Hands and hour marks glow in the dark, no light, though. It doesn't run out once it is fully charged. I left mine on a coaster on the back porch. To fully charge takes about 2 hours in sun, as long as 80+ hours in flourescent light. I put mine on window seal to re-charge, too. I have solar screens, so direct sun is out of the picture, unless I put it outside. Hasn't stopped working yet. I've had it about a week. Go online to Seiko to get an instruction booklet. I couldn't see the cal #, too small, but it's next to the model at Seiko.com. Mine is a V187. They only go up to V182, but the instructions work from the V182 for my watch.
